The Cambridge Strawberry Shorts Film Festival

A CALL FOR ENTRIES TO:

THE CAMBRIDGE STRAWBERRY SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL 2017

It is with great pleasure to announce that we will be holding The 2017 Cambridge Strawberry Shorts Film Festival on the evening of Friday 2nd June.

Cambridge Strawberry Shorts is a well established and respected short film festival run under the umbrella of Cambridge Cinema Shorts. The festival is an important event in the Cambridge City calender. It enjoys national support and has international recognition. Each year we try to add a little extra, keeping it fresh and alive, and encouraging continued interest with year round supporting events.

This year there will be  three awards presented, The Judges Award, The Audience Award and a new award added late into the last years selection process, The Viewing Panel Award (who better to judge, we watch every film submitted, many of them several times). The winners of all three will be announced at the end of the festival.

Because of time restrictions and programming considerations many films submitted cannot, but deserve to be included in the festival. To redress this injustice commendations will be awarded. A listing will be published in the programme, film makers informed and all these films will be screened at public events in Cambridge over the rest of the year.

Films can be of any genre but should be less than 20 minutes long. There is no submission fee so long as entries are submitted to us on DVD's, (see below for alternative submission method).

Strawberry Shorts is a genuine festival complete with an enthusiastic audience and good press coverage. Close of entry is Saturday 8th April. 2017

This year we have buckled to the increasing pressure to except downloads. That said, its not all good news for the 'press button to submit' fans, as, where Strawberry Shorts will remain a free to enter festival for DVD submissions because of the considerable amount of time, expense and bother on line submissions cause us we will have to charge a fee for submission by download. (See submissions page for details)

All films received will be watched and considered by the viewing panel and the final selection will be screened at the festival.

To determine The Audience Award all members will receive voting slips on arrival at the festival and will be asked to join in the voting procedure at the end of the screening. Winners of all awards will then be announced at the close of the festival.

Further details of venue and times will be available closer to date, so please continue to visit our web site for information and news on this and other forthcoming events.

Nantucket Film Festival

The Nantucket Film Festival is accepting film and screenplay submissions for its 16th edition, to be held June 22-26, 2011. Unique in its dedication to supporting and promoting the art of screenwriting, the Nantucket Film Festival has been a standout on the festival circuit, screening imaginative films with an eye for great storytelling. The films shown at NFF are comprised of independent, studio-produced, foreign, documentary, animation, and short works in every genre.

All film submissions are eligible for an array of awards, including Showtime’s Tony Cox Award for Screenwriting, Best Storytelling in a Documentary, Best Writer/Director, Audience Award and the Adrienne Shelly Excellence in Filmmaking Award that honors the outstanding achievement by a female filmmaker with a $5,000 cash prize.

Showtime’s Tony Cox Screenplay Competition provides—in addition to a $5,000 cash prize and an all-expense paid trip to the Festival in June—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate as one of four writers in the Screenwriters Colony annual, month-long retreat to Nantucket in the fall. The Colony offers screenwriters a place to work where they are encouraged to find their voice and push the boundaries of their craft under the guidance of established film professionals.  Recent Screenwriter’s Colony mentors have included: Campbell Scott, Oren Moverman, Bingham Ray, L.M. Kit Carson, Coleman Hough, and Lawrence Inglee. Competition finalists are invited to a Mentor Brunch where they can discuss their projects with the Screenwriters Tributee. Barry Levinson inaugurated the program in 2009. The Competition has also served as a launching platform for promising screenwriters. Writer/director Debra Granik won the Competition in 2002 for her script Down to the Bone. Her new film, Winter’s Bone, leads the 2010 award season with an impressive number of nominations.

The Festival offers the perfect environment for filmmakers and screenwriters to meet with actors, producers, and development executives, resulting in successful collaborations. Rosie Perez met director/producer Liz Garbus of Moxie Firecracker Films and produced the Puerto Rican documentary, Yo Soy Boricua, Pa’que tu lo Sepas! Sophie Barthes met actor Paul Giamatti while attending the Festival as the 2006 Competition winner for her script Cold Souls; Giamatti went on to star in the film. As one of the 2009 Competition Jurors, Lili Taylor was so impressed by Jenny Deller’s script Future Weather that she signed on to star in the upcoming film.

Chicago International Reel Shorts Festival

#

Chicago International REEL Shorts Festivals mission is to show the worlds best short films to the people of Chicago and the Global Entertainment industry. We have low entry fees and low cost ticket prices.

La Boca Del Lobo International Short Film Festival

To show and to promote the most interesting, avant-garde and hazardous movies from the international and independent cinema, transforming madrilean nights into a cross cultural place.

To attract and create new amateurs of this kind of production with an alternative offer, by generating new place for showing. These are the main objectives of this festival.

First to organize a film festival in a music club and to promote it with a new project - the touring festival - La Boca del Lobo suggests a different model of competition, by organizing itself in small places to make connections between audience and producers easier.

The aim, since its first edition in 1997, is to explore new ways in the seventh art from a different perspective, valiant; blended with the other art: music.
Workshops, forum, exhibitions and concerts are part of the festival program.

A festival escaping from the main stream ghetto.
A festival made in a cave.
A bet against who thinks: ”madrilean movida is dead!”
A project coming from the dark night, shining by itself, that pays a tribute to creators of our age.
