Who would be a media mogul ey? The last few weeks and months has seen the likes of Simon Cowell and Rupert Murdoch become the story for the wrong reasons. For months, the press were told who was in and who was out in the game of musical chairs regarding this year’s X Factor judges. Eventually we said goodbye to Danni Minogue and Cheryl Cole and hello to Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos (Peter Dickson, the voice of X-Factor will certainly have his hands full announcing her name in full e...

ARES Film & Media Festival was born in 2009 in Syracuse, Italy.
It promotes a connection between the world of art and culture and that of new technologies and social responsibility.
The main purpose of the ARES (Art and Social Responsibility) Festival is the promotion of the visual culture and multimedia languages as a vehicle for social cohesion through the creation of an open supporting network aimed at encouraging, helping and linking all the expressions and positive experiences which can spread the values of pluralism and general well being in the cultural and social fields.
The Festival organizes a debate on the means of social responsibility through conferences and seminars concerning the social, scientific and environmental fields. It stimulates the meeting of multimedia projects and promotes moments of confrontation on issues concerning the investment in culture as a unique element of communication and building corporate identity and growth of core values in an organization.

The effects of the global economy meltdown have sent a lot of developed countries scrambling to stay afloat. Everything they are experiencing now is nothing new to the third world where poverty, unemployment, poor education, disease, corruption, and crime have remained rampant. Suddenly, developed nations relate more to stories frequently associated with third world countries.
This did not go unnoticed by talented filmmakers who continuously raise the bar and maintain a keen s...

I recently read an interesting report, written by the folks at the Academy for Educational Development's Youth Media Reporter. While we all at The Shortie Awards knew the importance of giving young media creators a space to promote their work - that's why we exist! What's interesting is the call for youth media organizations to collaborate because that's what we're interested in doing! At an international level, we would like to form a consortium with other youth media organizations and focus ...
Director: Robert Siegal.
Paul (Patton Oswalt), a 35-year-old parking garage attendant from Staten Island, is the self-described "world's biggest New York Giants fan." He spends his off hours calling in to local sports radio station 760 The Zone, where he rants in support of his beloved team, often against his mysterious on-air rival, Eagles fan Philadelphia Phil (Michael Rapaport). His family berates him for doing nothing with his life, but they don't understand the depth of his love of the Giants. One night, Paul and his best friend Sal (Kevin Corrigan) spot a Giants star linebacker (Jonathan Hamm) and decide to approach him—but things do not go as planned. The fallout of this chance encounter brings Paul's world crashing down around him as his family, the team, the media and the authorities engage in a tug of war over Paul, testing his allegiances and calling into question everything he believes in. Following up his first filmed screenplay (The Wrestler), writer/director Robert Siegel once again demonstrates a unique and potent vision of the human experience, in all of it its harsh truths and hopeful humanity.
Attention scoop: festivals aren't profitable. They're intended to help leverage the buzz of a film in order to get distribution. The festival circuit is unique as it sheds light on an amazing wealth of productions worldwide. The concept is terrific. However, often the concept is not understood properly. Festival means festive celebration. Festivals celebrate the 7th art. My mission is I accept it is not to sabotage a film or a festival but to report about the films, ambiance and what...
