Purgatory III Film Exhibition

+ CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN +

purgatory / noun / an intermediate place or state
of temporary suffering for expiatory purification

Within the word “purgatory”, it is easy to envision condemned souls, torment and darkness. However, purgatory may also reflect the cyclic state in which we often rediscover or recreate ourselves anew from within our personal inflictions. Sometimes it is the necessary stage to exorcise ourselves from the haunting ghosts of the past. Perhaps it is the serene place of self reflection and realization.

From within this, DAMNED proudly presents an exhibition of powerful cinema called Purgatory. Held on March 8th & 9th 2013 at the Tangent Gallery in Detroit, Purgatory will present various short films of deeply introspective, beautifully disturbing and darkly enlightening subject matters from filmmakers local and worldwide. This is not an industry-focused horror film festival, but a tributary showcase of the often redemptive films from the filmmaker’s personal damnations. (The full film schedule is listed further below)

Reservation = Thousands of people from all over the country gathered in the centre of Moscow to attend the celebrations of the 66th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on the Red Square. But most of them had managed to see very little of celebrations: the entire city center cordoned off by police, preventing the ingress of people to the Red Square. While the military parade was marching across the Red Square, low-key Russians with no special permits wandered from one barrier to another hoping to catch at least some part of celebrations
