About IFFLA
The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) is a nonprofit organization devoted to a greater appreciation of Indian cinema and culture by showcasing films, supporting emerging filmmakers, recognizing the leadership of entertainment industry performers and business executives, and promoting the diverse perspectives of the Indian diaspora.
Each year the festival is held at the ArcLight Hollywood and features a rich mix of film programs designed to build and support the growing interest in the Indian entertainment industry. This includes programming that cultivates an audience for Indian films while supporting filmmakers of Indian descent in career development as they navigate the larger studio system in Hollywood. IFFLA's creative and business programs include the IFFLA Film Fund that helps emerging filmmakers realize their feature-length narrative and non-narrative film projects; the Industry Leadership Awards created to recognize the achievements of industry executives who have contributed considerably towards the entertainment and media industry in India; the One-on-One program where industry professionals from major and independent production and distribution companies are invited to participate in meetings with the IFFLA filmmakers; and the panel discussions with speakers from the film industry.

POOL is a recurring format for dance- and animation-film. The Aim is to create a platform for dancers, choreographers, directors, artists, organizers and other interested people. POOL offers space for a mutual exchange of experiences, developing and advanced training, and presentations prospects. It`s a platform for those kinds of films, which picture dance not as a simple documentation, but more as a creative piece of art, using cuts and several other techniques for creation. We also like films which include every kind of non-dance movement in choreography. Moreover biographies of creators are less important or whether it`s a high or low budget film.
Films shouldn`t be longer than 30 min and also not only a documentation of a dance piece. That means the filmed material should be edited in any way. Exceptions are films, which use the pure documentation as a part of the creative process.
If you love beautiful things and you want to be moved, you must see PINA, the documentary by Wim Wenders.
It captures some of the legendary German choreographer Pina Bausch’s 40 dances, using 3-D technology that draws you into the dance in a way that’s never been filmed before. And it’s earthy! Where else have you seen dancers ooze into actual dirt, fling themselves into water and rock, burst through woods in spring, or dance a lonely arabesque on a concrete island surrounded...

Irregular Seasoning is loosely inspired by the life of the French Marchioness de Brinvilliers (1630-1676). The Marchioness is a depressed woman of the French aristocracy who leads a dull life in her castle, dominated by her husband, an "important" man, her small daughter and the servants.
Attempting to end her days with rat poison, she resolves to test it on one of her maids. Rather sucessfully. She discovers a passion for poisoning, and she considers it an art.
One by one, she kills her husband, her daughter and the greater part of the well-bred people that come around for a visit. She finds her life’s purpose, yet her life ends with her being burned at the stake. In her finest garments, she happily meets her end having finally done something with her life. But even the Marquise knows, all good things must come to an end.
These two films got
big audience responses last week at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles.
“Pina,” a 3-D documentary
about the legendary German choreographer Pina Bausch, starts with her
re-envisioning of Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” as a thrilling discovery of
female sexuality. The film jumps—you cannot gently segue away from “Rite”—into
other dances she choreographed, along with brief interviews with her dancers.
