An evening of narrative re-interpretation with live, improvised musical innovation and short film. Sound:Sight will screen a series of short films accompanied by invited musicians performing a live score to the images- celebrating the creative collaboration between music and film.
Harpsichords, kalimbas, turntables, violins, banjos and electro-acoustic widgematrons will leave their musical mark on the film’s narrative, open them up for continual interpretation, and allow for multiple stories to unfold through the conduit of different musical languages. Come watch a remixed 1940s Soviet propaganda film about the resuscitation of dead organisms (featuring a nice cameo by a decapitated dog head). Or a stop-motion pirate flick set to a bluegrass score. Audience and artists will grapple to discover that harmonious ratio of the senses, the fine balance pleasing to both the aural and visual palette.
Featuring sounds by: Polmo Polpo, DJ Kids and Explosions, insideAmind, Laura Barrett, John Kameel Farah, Rick Hylsop, James McKie & Daniel Simmons
