LA Film Festival Closing Night Gala
Wow...what an amazing festival. I'm a little bummed it's over but then my overflowing laundry basket reminds me that it's time to resume normal life. :-) I had a great time and I just can't stop talking about the LA Film Festival staff and volunteers. They are the greatest group of people ever. It would be an honor for me to screen my film at this festival. As a matter of fact, that's all I could think about the entire week! And every filmmaker I met told me that this festival in particular is run by the most gracious and wonderful individuals. I really wanted to post something about the closing night gala before I went to bed so here it is. I have a more involved blog coming soon with pics and my festival wrap-up video too!
Sunshine is an amazingly shot film. However, I found myself lost a lot. Perhaps I'm just not the sharpest tool in the shed, I'm not sure, but that seemed to be the general vibe as I walked around the after party and asked people. Visually, it was hard to understand what was happening sometimes. But again, the visuals of this film are stunning and the acting is amazing. If you saw it and would like to submit a review or to post your comments, email me! I'd love to post what YOU have to say about it.
The party was just like the movie, really cool looking (minus the mental confusion...well, that came later in the night!) Again, we were treated to an open bar and a buffet of yummy food. The furniture glowed and they had round igloo-type tents set up all over the grass with white shag carpet inside and pillows. Very cute.
Closing Night Gala Atmosphere
There was plenty of space so you never felt crowded - lots of tables and chairs. I like that. I have to admit, I was a little exhausted last night. I tried to snap myself into the festive mood and I think eventually i got there, but it took me a minute. I think it goes back to the people. The people at this festival are so warm and friendly and open. I love it! And I was really surprised by the diversity of people. Diversity is a great thing!
I'm off to bed! Transformers opens tomorrow and so it is sure to be a busy day in the office. I will be posting pictures all day tomorrow. If you see your picture up here (and on my website) and I don't have your name there and you'd like me to include it, please send me an email and I'll make the change. I don't always get everyone's names but it's nice to have them. I am going to give myself a little break and then I will post the "festival wrap-up" video. Have a happy and safe 4th of July for those of you in America! And everyone else... have a safe and wonderful day!
Lisa :-)
