On May 20, 2023, award-winning Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap received the Industry Excellence Award from the French Riviera Film Festival at the private closing reception of the festival held at Eden Hotel & Spa in Cannes. The award was presented to Kashyap by Awards Editor Movie Marker magazine Rehna Azim and FRFF co-founder Nicole Goesseringer Muj. Kashyap's latest film Kennedy was screened at the 2023 Festival de Cannes.

A decade earlier on the same day, Anurag Kashyap was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government at 2013 Cannes Film Festival, when India was the guest country of the festival, commemorating 100 years of Indian cinema.
