Recipient of an Honorary Palme d'Or on July 6 at Festival de Cannes,Jodie's first memory at Cannes with the debut of "Taxi Driver" in 1976 was that her dog Napoléon had died before the flight and her thoughts went to the dog all through the press attention and clamour. She mentioned that women were important in the beginning of the film industry such as Alice Guy Blaché and Dorothy Arzner and credited David Fincher whom she has learned the most from.During her visit in Cannes she said that "The Deer Hunter" was a film that made an early great impression on her as far as the language of cinema.
Jodie Foster is emblematic of a woman working in the industry that has held her own. She was radiant at Cannes with her wife Alexandra Hedison - no newcomer to Hollywood - whose father David played Felix opposite Roger Moore in "Live and Let Die"(1973). Foster believes that now is the moment for women to work in film. She had a great rapport with the audience especially young women who asked about her thoughts of women in horror genre and women in marketing production.
