German actress Franka Potente, best known for such films as The Bourne Identity, Blow, and Run Lola Run, makes her directorial debut with the feature film, Home.
The redemption drama stars Jake McLaughlin (Savages, ABC’s “Quantico”), Academy Award winner Kathy Bates (Fox’s “American Horror Story”, The Highwaymen, Titanic), and Lil Rel Howery (Brittany Runs A Marathon, Get Out).
Rounding out the cast is rising talent Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale, BBC’s “The Fall”), Derek Richardson (Hostel), James Jordan (Seberg, Wind River), and Emmy Award nominee Stephen Root (HBO’s “Barry,” upcoming Bombshell, Seberg, On The Basis of Sex)..
BAC Films is handling international sales and distributing the film in France. Weltkino is releasing the film in Germany.
The film tells the story of Marvin Hacks (McLaughlin) coming home after more than 20 years in prison, who will soon find out that, even after two decades, his small American hometown has not forgotten the atrocity he committed. Despite the confrontation and hostility from the locals, Marvin will do what it takes to win back his place in society.
Filming wrapped on August 16th, 2019, and was shot on location in Los Angeles, Cologne and Duesseldorf, Germany.
Germany's leading film production company augenschein Filmproduktion, headed by Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo, developed the story and will produce together with Lemming Films’ Leontine Petit and Erik Glijnis and Fireglory’s Christine Günther and Chevy Chen.
