The Family Man: Say Hi, to the middle-class guy, who’s a world class spy
National award winner for acting (films) and Padma Shri (civilian honour) awardee Manoj Bajpayee (Satya, Gangs of Wasseypur-1, Bhonsle) makes his digital debut in the eagerly anticipated Amazon Original series, The Family Man, which releases 20 September on Amazon Prime Video.
Created by producer-director duo of Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK; Shor in the City, Happy Ending, Stree), The Family Man will be seen in 200 countries and territories. The 10-part series also stars award-wining talent from Mumbai, Delhi and south India, including Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Neeraj Madhav, Sharad Kelkar, Gul Panag, Sundeep Kishan, Darshan Kumaar, Sunny Hinduja, and Shreya Dhanwantary. The cast was chosen after utilising the service of at least two casting directors, and some of the actors gave auditions for various roles, the process lasting for up to two months, to bag their parts.
Contrary to expectations, Priyamani speaks good Hindi, having studied the language at school, and contrary to popular perception, Gul Panag is not Kashmiri--though Gul means flower in Urdu--her real, full name being Gulkirat Kaur Panag. Gul, though, comes from an army family, her father being a Lieutenant-General. She travelled the country with the family because of her father’s transferable jobs, for as many as 30 years of her 40 year life so far, and studied in 14 different schools. So, this role is close to her heart.
Described by the makers as an edgy drama-thriller, The Family Man is the story of Shrikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee, who looks noticeably younger than his 50 years) ), who is 'a middle-class guy, with a wife, a daughter and son, but also a world-class spy.
Bajpayee plays a middle-class man who works for a special cell of the National Intelligence Agency. While he tries to protect the nation from terrorists, he also has to protect his family from the impact of his secretive, high-pressure, and low paying job.

Synopsis
The Family Man follows the journey of Shrikant Tiwari, a middle class man who lives in Mumbai. Shrikant spends most of his time attempting to strike a balance between the responsibilities of his family, while working for a highly secretive special cell of the National Intelligence Agency, attempting to spot and prevent large-scale terror attacks on the country and its citizens. One day, while going about his domestic chores, Shrikant Tiwari finds himself caught in a sudden case that demands his full attention which eventually throws his family life upside down. The film has a Kashmiri separatist-terrorist backdrop.
