I had the pleasure of sitting down with the talented Tiffany Chu, the lead of Ms. Purple. For those of you unfamiliar with the film, I included a link to my review below. I highly recommend looking out for this film when it gets its wide release.
In the film, Tiffany plays a once talented pianist that left her career behind to help keep her father alive through working as essentially a call girl in Koreatown. When her live in nurse quits, she is forced to call her wayward brother for help. It is a story of redemption and of the importance of familial bond. While the film is brutal and painful, it has this swell of hope that fills your heart, making the experience all too worth it.
Tiffany is an artist we all ought to be paying attention to. Her gravitas commands attention on screen. Whether she is delivering a powerful line, or emoting silently, an energy vibrates from her performance. There are not many Asian-American stars in Hollywood right now, but after her performance in Ms. Purple it is clear that she may be one of some who are soon to close that gap.
Check out my interview below. Tiffany gives some insight into the film and where she is headed in her career. This is a name that will surely be in households across the nation soon enough. So jump on the bandwagon now while there’s still room!
