"From On High" has won First Place in the 9th annual UNCG Sustainability Shorts Film Festival at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro which was held April 19, 2018. This is the 4th nomination and 2nd win for the short film made in the Catalunya province of Spain in September of 2017.
Written and helmed by Dawn Westlake, "From On High" tells the story of a Syrian refugee girl who finds a better life in Europe. It marks the professional acting debut of 11-year-olds Zoe Pinell Lopez and Esteve Serra Coll. The film was shot/edited by Pol Carrizo Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona. An original score was provided by GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs. Johnson was a Peer Raben Music Award nominee in 2016 for another Westlake-helmed film, also shot/edited by Carrizo-Vilarroig, "Through the Pane".
