On behalf of GOI's Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD),and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) to organize the first International Film Festival for the Persons with Disabilities' (IFFPD), a unique three-day film festival for persons with disabilities, which will be held at Siri Fort, New Delhi, from December 1- 3, 2015. The concluding day of the festival is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The National award winning Marathi Feature Film, Yellow will be the inaugural movie of the festival which will showcase 40 Indian and international films including 16 shorts, 14 documentaries and 10 feature films,all of which explore the lives of the disabled and encourage discussion on the diversity of human experience.
Meghna Gulzar's documentary film on disabled children, Closer will premiere at the IFFPwD and compete in the Documentary section of the festival.
The distinguished jury members of IFFPD 2015 are Marco Mueller, Jayshree Raveendran, Aamir Bashir (Haider) for Feature Films and Rajesh Jala, Siddharth Kak, Arun Chadha for Documentary & Short Film category.
NFDC's Call for entries on behalf of IFFPD 2015 saw a total of 541 national and international movies submitted in the three main categories, Feature Films, Documentaries and Short Films.
IFFPD 2015 will felicitate the Best Director, and Best Film in each of the 3 categories of Films with cash awards, trophies and citations.
