CELLAR DOOR FILM FESTIVAL
WELCOMES SPECIAL GUESTS TO INAUGURAL EDITION OF CDFF

OTTAWA, ON – Nov. 4, 2014 – With the start of its inaugural season just days away, Ottawa’s Cellar Door Film Festival (CDFF) is set to host several exciting guests and filmmakers Among those coming to Ottawa for the festival are Montreal filmmaker Maude Michaud (pictured) and actor Alex Goldrich of Dys-. This weekend, Dys-will see bi-coastal premieres, with screenings in both Los Angeles (at the RIP Horror Film Festival) and Ottawa. Such rising interest in Michaud’s visceral and audacious feature debut is an unsurprising feat given its recent win: the film received the Public Prize for Best Canadian Feature at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal this August. Festival goers can look forward to Michaud and Goldrich’s Q&A session following the screening of Dys- on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7:30pm at Club SAW in Ottawa’s Arts Court (67 Nicholas St.)
CDFF also proudly welcomes three Ottawa filmmakers to the festival. Director Andrew Robinson will attend the Opening Night screening of his short Beauty Sleep on Friday, Nov. 7, which precedes the feature presentation of Roseville, a Bulgarian horror/thriller from director Martin Makariev. Beauty Sleep is a nightmarish and experimental ode to horror. CDFF attendees eager to interact with local filmmakers should make plans for the Sunday shorts programme “From the Basement of the World, So Cold and So Dark”, as local filmmakers Carmelo Zucco and Dylan-Hunt Weeks will be present to discuss their films The Phoenix and Experiment 467, respectively. The Phoenix is a contemplative sci-fi film while Experiment 467 is a Twilight Zone-like film shot in Ottawa’s historic Diefenbunker.

Advance tickets are $9 and can be purchased online through Uniiverse or in-person before each screening for $12 (cash only). All screenings take place at Club SAW in Arts Court (67 Nicholas St.).
All screenings are generously supported by CDFF’s Presenting Sponsors, the School for Studies in Art and Culture at
Carleton University and the SPARTA Film Challenge, as well as its Presenting Sponsors, the Carleton University Alumni Association, GNA Heating and Cooling, The Haunted Walk of Ottawa, and Used Ottawa.
