After five consecutive years of pushing the envelope in underground
film. 2013 marks the sixth annual Minneapolis Underground Film
Festival and already cutting edge submissions are coming in from
around the world. What started as a protest film festival giving voice
to underdog filmmakers and never before seen film artists has now
become one of the Midwest's premiere showcases of independent film
making. Held at the St.Anthony Main movie theaters in August, this
year's festival will offer an air conditioned reprieve from the
Minnesota summer's heat. Once again the festival is sponsored by the
Film Society of Minneapolis/Saint Paul at St. Anthony Main Theater.
Local filmmakers get to submit their films for free if they get them
in by the Call for Entry deadline May 4, 2013 with a Late Deadline for
procrastinators on June 1, 2013.
This year Radio K will sponsor the Best Soundtrack Award category
which will include an In-studio interview for the winning filmmaker,
air-play of select music before and after the interview, and a website
feature with download options. More awards are available to
independent filmmakers that strive to make their vision seen and
heard.
