Shon Gale and Ethan Moore
A camera, a laptop, and seven days. Could you make a short film that would ultimately be chosen by an international film
festival?
Ethan Moore and Shon Gale of The University of Arizona created a short film titled “Caution Wet Floor,”
featuring a hitman and a botched execution. Their short film won best comedy at
The University of Arizona and is one of the top 30 Campus MovieFest films from
the United States being screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
What motivated them?
"We wanted to make people laugh,” said Moore.
The short film was written and directed by Moore and produced by Gale. The two met in film school at the
University of Arizona. They used actors who they had personal connections with;
actors who were passionate about “Caution Wet Floor”, and not about money.
"Caution Wet Floor" was filmed in two days, edited in one, included a team of seven people, and had a $0
budget. However, with limited resources, Moore and Gale created a success.
Campus MovieFest also helped filmmaker and screenwriter Steven Shotola make it to Cannes.
Shotola’s short film “Duality” is a murder drama relating human nature to fire.
"Human nature is beautiful and dangerous,
like fire,” said Shotola. “Fire on the inside is worse than on the outside.”
Shotola attends Jacksonville University
and is currently working for Harper Productions in Jacksonville.
