The 32nd Fantasporto, Portugal’s biggest film fest (Variety) is coming. With a programme dedicated to the newest films in the three competitions, with retrospectives and tributes, it is not only there that lies the whole interest of the event.
In fact, this edition will celebrate officially, and with special permission of the American legal representatives, the 30th Anniversary of the film “Blade Runner” which was seen for the first time in Fantasporto '83.
This film serves as a “leitmotiv” for the special program, a sidebar of the festival crossing the Cinema with the Arts and Sciences, which is dedicated in 2012 to “The Future Now”. A review of what we think is the expectable in several areas such as the Fine Arts, Literature, Science, Music and the Theatre. Lectures with renowned specialists, new films, science demonstrations, hologram exhibitions and the publication of an anthology of sci-fi short stories, among others complete this programme.
With the High Patronage of the Ministry of Culture, welcome to Porto, a World Heritage City (UNESCO) next February 2012 and enjoy a film festival as no other!
Fantasporto will bring a tribute to ANTÓNIO-PEDRO VASCONCELOS.
A director with a long and prestigious career who brought crowds to the theatres with his most recent films, is certainly a man to watch. Fantasporto 2012 has decided to pay its tribute to director-producer António-Pedro Vasconcelos.
Born in 1939, he studied law, was a film critic, the editor of the film magazine Cinéfilo and worked on television. He directed commercials and documentaries as well as feature films. He was a cofounder of the Centro Português de Cinema. In feature films, he directed, among others, “Jaime”, “The Immortals”, “Call Girl” and “Beauty and the Paparazzo”.
