Canwest Donates $140,000 to the Victoria Film Festival
Victoria, BC The Victoria Film Festival is pleased to announce that Canwest an organization with a strong history of giving back to the communities in which it operates has guaranteed the long-term health of the Festivals documentary programming with a multi-year financial commitment of $140,000.
Were really excited about Canwests contribution to documentary film in Victoria. Its great when organizations can work together to improve access to film, said Festival Director Kathy Kay. This will solidify support for documentary screenings for years to come.
For the next seven years, Canwests significant donation will ensure the Festivals ability to develop and screen documentary films on a variety of subjects, opening new avenues of expression and increasing exposure to the different perspectives that provide a cross section of our society.
We see this donation as a long-term investment in the enrichment of the arts community in the Victoria region, said Barbara Williams, Executive Vice President, Content, Canwest Broadcasting. As a champion of compelling content in all its forms, we are proud to be partnering with the Victoria Film Festival to not only provide access to this important form of story telling, but to also share new insights and fresh perspectives on notable issues from around the world.
