International Mountaneering and the Environment Film Festival, Inkafest 2008

The "generous city of Huaraz", one of the most important cities in the Peruvian Andes, which has been recognized as the Natural Paradise of the World by the Swiss Tourism Awards 2007 committee, and an unavoidable destination for adventure and mountaneering tourists, will be hosting the IV International Mountaneering and the Environment Film Festival, Inkafest 2008. This event enriches the cultural and touristic aspects of the city, which year after year, receives an ever increasing international recognition.
The now called International Mountaneering and the Environment Film Festival, aspires to become a place of encounter for mountain and adventure sports lovers; as well as for anyone that seeks to promote a sense of harmony between nature and society, the importance of taking care of the environment, the preservation of the mountains and respect towards indigenous communities.
There are more than fifty competing documentaries, first class screenings, conferences and other interesting activities that have been programed as part of Inkafest 2008. This year the festival will award prizes donated by the Provincial Government of Huaraz and the Cultural Center of Spain.
