FOREIGN AWARD 2008 to “Angels and Demons” by Director Ron Howard
"Angels and Demons," Sony Entertainment’s latest thriller directed by American, Ron
Howard and based upon the Dan Brown novel of the same title, is sure to excite viewers and fuel controversy as did its predecessor, “The Da Vinci Code.” With Italy as the film’s backdrop, American actor Tom Hanks reprises the role of Harvard Professor and hero, Robert Langdon.
In “Angels and Demons,” Langdon takes on the secret sect of the Illuminati seeking to uncover the most powerful source of energy in the modern World. Langdon embarks upon this high stakes adventure with the help of a natural Italian beauty, portrayed by Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer, whose father’s recent murder, at CERN in Geneva, serves as her motivation to uncover the mystery. The cast is rounded out by the English actor Ewan MacGregor and Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino.
On June 18, the Ischia Film Festival’s Artistic Director, Michelangelo Messina, will present our coveted Foreign Award, at the Royal Palace of Caserta, to Ron Howard. The Royal Palace of Caserta is a famous location chosen by the production to create scenes set inside the Vatican. The presentation of the Award shall be screened during the Ischia Film Festival closing gala on June 29 in Ischia.
Previous recipients of our Foreign Award include "The Passion of the Christ" directed by Mel Gibson, "007 Casino Royale" directed by Martin Campbell, and "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" directed by Wes Anderson.
