The Awards for Dragons and Tigers will be announced at 6:45pm at the Empire Granville 7 Visa Screening Room #7 on Thursday, October 4th.
For the 14th year running, the Dragons & Tigers Award for Young Cinema, which includes an upgraded cash prize of $10,000 to the film’s director courtesy of sponsor Brad Birarda, will be awarded for the most creative and innovative first or second feature-length film by a new director from Pacific Asia. The award will be handed out in a ceremony on Thursday, October 4 at 6:45pm, before the screening of DEAD TIME.
The nominees are:

DIMMER (Kim Sam-Ryeok) South Korea – North American Premiere
FUJIAN BLUE (Robin Weng) China – International Premiere
MID-AFTERNOON BARKS (Zhang Yuedong) China – North American Premiere
OBBAH: A GIRL’S ELDER BROTHER (Kim Jong-Guk) South Korea – World Premiere
THIS WORLD OF OURS (Nakajima Ryo) Japan – International Premiere
TIMBER GANG (Yu Guangyi) China – North American Premiere
The distinguished jury for the 2007 award is comprised of: South Korea film director Jang Sun-Woo; Bangkok Post film critic and commentator Kong Rithdee; and producer, critic, educator and author Colin McCabe.
The winning film will be screened again on Friday, October 5 at 1:15pm at the Vancity Theatre.
