Atlantic Film Festival’s industry event Strategic Partners will bring together 180 international film and TV decision makers from six countries (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, US and Canada) to conduct a impressive 600 meetings in just three days.
“The potential economic impact of these meetings is in the tens of millions,” said Jan Miller, Strategic Partners Director.
Taking place from September 15 to 17, the goal of Strategic Partners is to facilitate international co-productions through a series of meetings, panels, keynotes and social events. Created nine years ago, by producers for producers, this is the only film and television event of its kind in Canada, and the only one to include both film and television projects together, in the world.
Strategic Partners has become a “must-attend” industry event for international film and television executives. In fact, demand for Strategic Partners spaces exceeded capacity weeks ago – with an increase of more than 30 per cent in applications.
“That’s good news for us,” said Miller. “It means that we have high-calibre decision makers attending from around the world.” She noted that delegates like The Weinstein Company (Transamerica, Mrs. Henderson Presents) from the US, Australia’s Beyond Films (Strictly Ballroom, Children of the Revolution), Canada’s Barna Alper (Shake Hands with the Devil, Da Vinci’s Inquest), UK’s Ingenious Media (Shaun of the Dead, Closer), Alchemy TV (Karol-A Man Who Became Pope, Sins of Our Fathers), and Southern Light (No.2, Oscar & Lucinda), make it very appealing for producers who are seeking financing and distribution for their films.
“Strategic Partners is a terrific place to begin partnerships, build on those that already exist and discover the hottest new TV and film projects coming down the pipe,” said Miller.
