Asolo Art Film Festival 2005 from 5th to 12th Novemberthe 24th edition of the festival launched in 1973
The 24th edition of the AsoloArtFilmFestival is in action since November 5th and will conclude November 12th in Asolo (Treviso - Italy), at the Theatre Eleonora Duse. The Festival was revived in 2001 in the wake of the “Festival of the Film on Art and Artist Biography” which was founded in 1973 by Flavia Paulon, witty biographer and soul of the Venice Film Festival.
First of its kind as an autonomous body, the Asolo Festival has aroused international interest thanks to the participation of film directors such as Andrej Tarkovskij, Luciano Emmer, Adrian Maben and the presence of Italian as well as foreign critics of art and cinema.
Maintaining continuity but also opening itself to the new expressive languages such as computer art, this film fair presided over by Prof. Lionello Puppi was relaunched by the A.I.A.F., as the AsoloArtFilmFestival.
Currently, the Festival is made up of five sections: 1. Films on Art 2. Artist Biography 3. Author’s cinema: the challenge of Eroticism 4. Video/Computer Art 5. Films produced by Schools of Cinema.
679 entries have been received from 48 countries of which 163 films have been selected. Together with the four films received after the closing date of the last edition of the Festival, a total number of 167 films will be taking part in the Festival this year.
