Don't miss The 1st Annual Central Nebraska Film Festival at the Kearney Community Theatre January 28th & 29th! (in Kearney, Nebraska)
The Official Film Selections for the 1st Annual Event in Kearney, Nebraska!
The purpose of the Film Festival is to celebrate and promote independent filmmaking in the Midwest. All Official Film Selections are eligible to compete for a trophy and cash prize that will be presented at the Awards Gala on the final night!
Highlights of the festival include Jim Field’s Documentary 416 which explores the issue of same sex marriage and civil rights for same sex couples from both the gay and conservative points of view, leaving it to each viewer to decide where they stand on this controversial issue. Other films include the hilarious Feature Film from Orlando, Florida Objects in the Rearview about a road trip where baggage takes on a whole new meaning and the Award Winning Feature Film University Heights by Scott Beck about four lives on a college campus and the struggles that they face everyday. A truly touching and very personal film is Anthem, a Documentary by Dean J. Augustine. Anthem explores the fundamental question, “What is an American?” Halfway Point, a Feature Film from the creative minds of Chad Bring & Eric Dwight, is about a recent college graduate who changes his life by moving from his hometown of Wayne, Nebraska to Omaha.
Short Film highlights include the suspenseful thriller Nine-One-One by Rex “Lou” Moulton, and Nocturne where Robert Bregman blurs the line between reality and imagination in a truly unique film with a surprise ending. The award winning talents of Peter John Ross are well represented in this festival with three Short Films by the creative filmmaker from Ohio. Bitter Old Man is about a racist father that confronts his son on the eve of his engagement to an African American Woman. A dysfunctional hit man attempts to emulate his hero in the hilarious comedy Pulp Diction, and one man attempts to get on an elevator, only to be thwarted by the ultimate evil in the comedy Elevator. Service for Four by Taegan Carter is an action comedy that shows how a secret service agent might find danger around any corner, and The Reapers by Chris Giddens is a hilarious short film about four wiseguys sitting in a smoke-filled room arguing over whether to make a call to Fat Tony’s. Other Short Film highlights include the mockumentary Grudge Match by Derek Rimelspach, and Aisle to Aisle by Eric Dwight and Chad Bring with Kevin O’Neill.
Many of the filmmakers will be on hand to introduce their films and will be a part of a filmmaker panel discussion on the creative process of getting their films from script to screen. There will also be plenty of parties where you can mingle with the filmmakers and other film enthusiasts!
