Last Sunday afternoon 2 geared up thieves dressed as nuns skipped a teller countertop and ran away with an undisclosed quantity of cash. The thievery was very similar to one portrayed last year in the critically commended Ben Affleck film, " The Town."
Thieves escape without shooting
The TCF bank in Palos Heights, Ill., was the most recent "The Town" robbery. The two robbers were male and female. They wore rubber masks and nuns' habits while there. They were both geared up. They had handguns on them. They stuffed a duffel bag with cash while at the bank and before leaving. There was a Chevrolet with tinted windows that they left in. Nobody got hurt since no shots were terminated.
The movie "The Town," directed and co-written by Ben Affleck, tells the story of a man who comes from a Boston neighborhood known for turning out a high number of geared up criminals, generation after generation. Affleck does what he is supposed to as the male. He does not like it very much though. In the movie, the burglary utilizes nun masks and habits also. This is just like Illinois' thievery. It seems the robberies have a film to inspire them, although there is no confirmation.
Previous robberies 'The Town' inspired
The Affleck movie was imitated before. 28 year old Kay Faughin, Eddie Solomon, 27, and 29 year old Lee Lubin all worked together on Jan 4 to rob Financial institution of America. They were wearing Halloween masks into the Delray Beach, Fla., branch. The consumers in the financial institution were told that they had to lie on their backs at gunpoint. The men took $67,000 in cash from the bank. They had a Cadillac waiting to get away. Law enforcement and news helicopters followed them. Local TV stations followed and covered them really well. All three men were apprehended within a few hours.
Lubin even said that watching "The Town" gave the men the idea for the burglary.
