Queer Fruits Film Festival has been established to provide a vital regional screen culture event to enable the GLBTIQ communities and wider community to participate in the celebration and innovation of international queer filmmaking culture.
Established in conjunction with Tropical Fruits Inc. one of the longest running grassroots GLBTIQ organisations in Australia (since 1988),
Queer Fruits Film Festival is an enticing new annual event to screen Wednesday December 29th and Thursday December 30th,
in the lead-up to the famous Tropical Fruits' New Year's Eve party - where around 3,000 local, national and international GLBTIQ patrons celebrate annually.
QUEER FILMMAKERS ENTER NOW : Queer Fruits Film Festival is open to innovative, entertaining, intelligent and celebratory films of all lengths; from short films, to selected features completed within the last three years. Films which uplift and inspire; films which explore the serious realities and issues that confront the GLBTIQ communities.
Fabulous films, which exude a charisma.
In 2010, queer filmmakers from 15 countries internationally and every state in Australia entered; leading to the presentation of an outstanding program of GLBTIQ films.
A Distinguished Festival Jury will again independently judge the films and select award winners in all categories, with two special prizes : Local Filmmaker Incentive (open to queer filmmakers who are Northern Rivers' residents) and Jury Prize to be awarded.
