The 10th DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival closed on Sunday with its films and events drawing over 30,000 festival-goers, of which over 24,000 in the cinemas alone. The total of the screenings was 137 and films 148. DocPoint Tallinn, which was organized for the second time, attracted over 3 000 visitors.
What attracted the visitors of DocPoint Helsinki most were e.g. international bestsellers like Banksy's Exit Through the Gift Shop and Charles Ferguson's Inside Job. The silent film concert
Jean Painlevé - Science is Fiction sold out, like Stefan Jarl's Masterclass and most of his screenings. Also new Finnish Documentaries brought the audience to cinemas.
The new Artistic Director of DocPoint Festival is director Erja Dammert (War Children, 2003 and Room of Riddles, 2007). Dammert has worked as a provincial artist of Åland Islands between 1995 and 1998. Between 2007-2009 she teached at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki.
