The Far East Film Festival in Udine launches the historic 10th edition of FEFF Campus initiative
FEFF CAMPUS 2024 10th edition Far East Film Festival launches its callout to young film media hopefuls as historic 10th edition of FEFF Campus seeks 5 applicants from Europe and 5 from Asia. Selection of 10 candidates now open!
The Far East Film Festival in Udine is ready to launch the historic 10th edition of our FEFF Campus initiative as we continue to connect rising generations of young movie industry hopefuls (and Asian film fanatics) from across the globe for 10 hosted days (and nights) of festival living (and working!). While FEFF is ready to welcome guests to Udine from April 24 to May 2, 2024 – on the streets and cafes of Udine and inside the Teatro Nuovo "Giovanni da Udine" and the Visionario cinema – the concurrent FEFF Campus will again give aspiring media types a hosted and unique opportunity to learn all about the Asian film industry. So consider our 2024 Campus callout officially launched as the 26th edition of Asian genre cinema’s favourite annual gathering will once again play host to 10 aspiring media types and film enthusiasts from Europe and Asia, aged 26 or under. The candidate selection process is now open, apply online here: https://vp.eventival.com/fareastff/2024. Five successful candidates will be chosen from Europe and five from Asia and they will be given the opportunity to join us in Udine and to learn how a film festival works, as well as how to be successful in the media world of today, while joining a writing and editorial team that explores both traditional media and the contemporary social media scene. “This year marks the 10th edition of our FEFF Campus and we have already hosted young film lovers from 20 European and 11 Asian nations and territories as part of this innovative initiative. They have become part of the FEFF family and many of them have gone on to established successful careers in film media, film production and film academia - something which makes us all very proud and further strengthens FEFF’s commitment to expanding the global reach of Asian cinema,” said FEFF president Sabrina Baracetti. “The Campus is a platform through which aspiring film industry professionals can launch their careers – and we are happy to help them on their way.” Successful applicants will join the Campus for 10 days of immersion in the world of FEFF during which time they will be able to interview some of the biggest names in Asian cinema, while working on both their writing and reviewing skills under the mentorship of seasoned industry professionals. The programme includes seminars, interviews and workshops that centre around the art of writing and cinema and will be guided by a group of professionals led by veteran journalist Mathew Scott. In past years the Campus has been graced by everyone from Japan’s Oscar-winning Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car) to Hong Kong superstars Johnnie To and Sammo Hung and Chinese screen idol Yao Chen as they have joined us to pass on their knowledge and advice. “We want to hear from young people who love Asian cinema and who want to learn how they can turn that passion into a career,” said Campus co-ordinator Mathew Scott. “You get to watch movies, and meet the stars and the filmmakers who are charting the course of Asian cinema. The experience has also helped previous members of the Campus team decide what they want to do with their lives – and that has included gaining employment in both media and film.” THE FEFF Campus is supported by EasternKicks, the Taiwan News, the New Straits Times, Japan Forward, the China Daily Hong Kong, Content Asia, Duart, Telum Media and Cineuropa. 24.01.2024 | Editor's blog Cat. : Call for entry FESTIVALS
