Le Festival International du Film d'Arras lance sa première compétition européenne avec une sélection de 9 titres inédits en France en lice pour l'Atlas d'or du meilleur film. Découvrez la sélection ci-dessous. Ces films seront projetés entre le 12 et le 15 novembre. Ils concourent pour 4 prix et 21.000 euros de dotation (dont 14.000 en aide à la distribution).

European competition : a selection of nine previously-unreleased long feature films will compete for the Awards, financially supporting the French distribution of the winning films. Directors and film teams will be attending the festival.

Gitti est une femme non conventionnelle et spontanée. Elle passe tranquillement ses vacances d'été en Sardaigne, avec son ami Chris, un architecte introverti et peu sûr de lui. La rencontre avec un autre couple, plus âgé, va déstabiliser leur relation. Un regard d'une grande justesse sur les sentiments amoureux et la vie à deux.

The little rituals, secrets and frustrations of a couple over the course of one summer. The film centres on Gitti and Chris, whose holidays take a different turn when they meet another, apparently perfect couple. The comparison and imitation completely upset the balance of their relationship.

Aurel, agent de sécurité dans un grand magasin de Bucarest, est marié à Irina qui, contre l'avis de son mari, accepte la mission au Caire que lui propose son employeur. Elle en revient transformée puis y retourne. Le terrible destin d'un homme qui refuse la réalité et qui doit faire face à la dureté du monde qui l'entoure.

Aurel works as a security guard in a large Bucharest department store and is married to Irina, who accepts a job in Cairo against her husband's wishes. She flies to Egypt, returns for a few days and leaves again. Then Aurel receives a phone call that his wife has killed himself. And he finds himself fighting the image of a woman he apparently never knew, as well as the bureaucratic cavils of two difficult countries.

Peu à peu, les blessures et les rancoeurs du passé ressurgissent, provoquant un affrontement sans merci. De magnifiques paysages glacés servent de cadre à cet ambitieux thriller psychologique.

Two immigrants from BiH, Hasan, a Bosniak, and Vuko, a Serb, left their country during the gruesome war in BiH in the 1990's, to look for happiness and a new life in America. On a fateful night, they met on a deserted road in central USA. An inexplicable force makes them spend the next 24 hours together, embarking on a psychological game of mutual accusatins which will change their lives for good, just like the war and the post-war situation they had both fled from...

Rachel et Mary, 18 ans, appartiennent à une communauté religieuse guidée par des règles très strictes. Mais Mary a envie de se maquiller, de boire de l'alcool, de danser et de rencontrer des garçons. Un jour, elle s'enfuit en ville. Rachel, plus raisonnable et posée, est chargée par la congrégation de la protéger. Un film sensible sur l'éducation et le choix.

Two 18-year old girls from a christian fundamentalist community flee to a city for a summer job. One of the girls, Maria, wants to see how the world is before going back home and getting married to a boy from the same community. She wants to try out things that are forbidden at home: Rhytm music, make up, kissing boys, dancing. The other girl, Raakel, is less adventurous and only wants to make sure Maria does return. The summer of temptations changes the life of one of the girls - for good.

Dans une maison isolée à la campagne, le temps d'un été, une fillette de dix ans, dont les parents sont partis en Afrique pour un projet humanitaire, fait ses premiers pas dans le monde des adultes. Un très beau film qui nous fait pénétrer avec beaucoup d'émotion et de poésie dans le monde secret de l'enfance.

At a remote house in the country a ten-year-old girl takes her first steps in the adult world. Her parents having gone to work on a development project in Africa, the girl is obliged to move in with her trendy aunt. But it turns out that her aunt would rather go sailing with her lover, and so the girl decides to look after herself. This marks the beginning of an adventure during which this ten-year-old is often put to the test.

Robert, un musicien new-yorkais de 52 ans, accepte contre 5000$ de se rendre à Belgrade pour épouser la petite amie de Branko afin qu'elle puisse légalement le rejoindre. Une fois sur place, il découvre à ses dépens que l'argent ne fait pas le bonheur. Un film drôle, sincère et profondément humain.

Miserable middle-aged musician Robert suddenly finds himself homeless and in need of quick cash. He accepts an offer from a young, enterprising Serbian immigrant named Branko: Travel to Belgrade, marry Branko's girlfriend, and bring her back to New York. But while on the trip, Robert meets Branko's mother, discovers that happiness comes when least expected, and begins to question whether money or love would be the true cure to his ills.

Une tragédie russe d'aujourd'hui, filmée avec beaucoup de tempérament.

Nastia, the star of a popular TV series comes to a sleepy provincial town. She has no one to turn to but her own sister. Nastia is disillusioned in life and disappointed in herself, she tries to start her life from a new point. Everything is going its usual way here. Every evening young boys and girls gather in the yard of the local hostel. They have nothing to do, life in the rural town offers no chances. Everyone wants to love, but to love someone else and in a different way. Nastia's arrival heightens the tension in the relationships between friends, and from that moment on secrets are no longer secrets and mysteries stop being mysteries. The provincial town is swept over with the love fever. And then, when it seems that everything can be changed, accidental tragedy turns things back, just as they used to be.

Il était une fois une petite fille qui s'appelait Terezka. Elle vivait heureuse avec ses parents. Mais comme cela arrive souvent dans les contes de fées, les choses de la vraie vie se déroulent tout autrement que prévu. Une histoire d'amour pour petits et grands racontée avec beaucoup de fantaisie et d'originalité.

Once upon a time there was a little girl name Terezka who loved to hear the story of Red Riding Hood and the big, bad wolf. Every evening her mother would be asked to read this fairy-tale to her, after which she would dream of walking through the grass-green woods wearing a bright red scarf on her head. And so Terezka lived happily with her parents and enjoyed going to kindergarten with her friend, Šimon ... But, as is so often with fairy-tales, in real life things sometimes turn out to be not at all as we expect.
