Since its creation in 1975, the Deauville American Film Festival has been both showcasing the diversity of American cinema, from major Hollywood productions to independent films, and continuously revealing new talent. It is organised every year by the Le Public Système Cinéma and the Centre International de Deauville, and presents over 100 films to audiences in three different sites: the Centre International de Deauville, the Deauville Lucien Barrière Casino, and the Deauville Le Morny Cinema. Le jury de la Révélation remettra lors de la cérémonie du palmarès, samedi 12 septembre, le Prix Fondation Louis Roederer de la Révélation.

FILMS D’OUVERTURE ET CLÔTURE

Nous avons souhaité ouvrir ce festival avec Minari, film de la compétition, afin d’affirmer celle-ci comme une priorité. De plus, cette œuvre aux accents fordiens affirme notre désir d’un cinéma exigeant et populaire. C’est cette même volonté qui nous a poussé à choisir en clôture Comment je suis devenu super-héros, film français en hommage aux héros marvelliens (véritable X-Men à la française) mais aussi au cinéma américain dans sa veine fantastique. Les deux films ont en commun de nous rendre heureux.

La compétition

Nous avons demandé au Festival international du film d'animation d'Annecy de venir à Deauville avec un programme jeunesse de trois films, afin de retrouver la joie de projections sur grand écran, en public, où la magnificence des trois films présentés prendra tout son essor. Au tarif de 10 euros*, le pass donnera accès aux trois films sélectionnés suivants :

CALAMITY de Rémi Chayé - Cristal d’or de l’édition 2020 - à partir de 6 ans
LUPIN III de Takashi Yamazaki - à partir de 10 ans
PETIT VAMPIRE de Joann Sfar - à partir de 6 ans

Pour les festivaliers amateurs de sensations fortes et de cinéma de genre, le Festival proposera également cette année le Pass Frissons. Pour un tarif exceptionnel de 10 euros*, ils pourront découvrir en avant-première les films suivants :
