An emotional journey of one man who has been working tirelessly for the last 20 years trying to help alleviate homelessness in Cairns. A hair raising experience as we get into the lives of these street kids, hear their stories and unfold the bitter reality that lies beneath this beautiful paradise island. It is a dark, intimate and unforgettable journey revealing the truth backed with real life incidents, diverse stories and first hand interaction with key people who helped make this mission impossible successful. Where the streets have no name today tells a different story!

With well over 100 videos shot and published, La Blogothèque’s Take-Away Shows are hardly a well kept secret anymore. They have become a standard stop for bands and artists of all styles and status that tour through the French capital. Arcade Fire, Animal Collective and Phoenix have all walked the streets of Paris in filmmaker Vincent Moon’s guerilla-style videos.
The Take-Away Shows (Les Concerts à emporter) first saw the day of light in April of 2006...

Stuart Craig has spent the last decade bringing the magical world of Hogwarts to life as production designer on each of the Harry Potter

Now in its fifth year, and still not banned, this wild and chaotic festival favourite returns to give desperate filmmakers the opportunity to pitch for a cash award to make their next great three-minute epic. The catch: they have to do it in a maximum of two minutes in front of a live audience – who are both judge and jury. Hosted once again by trail-blazing production company o-region, the event will also feature the world premieres of last year’s survivors (‘winners,’ we mean ‘winner...

Well, I have finally seen ‘I’m Still Here’ and thought it was a great film – it’s a film not a documentary. It is by far a carefully edited and well-acted film much more than it is a documentary. I hear that a lot of people are bored now guessing whether it is a hoax or not (and I think I heard someone mention that Affleck has admitted that it is a hoax…) but either way its defiantley not a documentary.
What I found most interesting was the very beginning of the film, as i...
Today I am speaking with the passionate Jonas Fisch, the talented TV and Film actor recently featured in films like: Angels and Demons (2009), How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and That Side of A Shadow (2010).
ME: Can you talk a little bit about your voiceover role in How to Train Your Dragon (2010)?
JONAS: I feel there's no point talking about "How to train your Dragon" since it was a quick voice over for a Europ...
I hate it when I wake up early for no reason whatsoever and have no choice but to get out of bed… 5.18am I wake up thirsty, so I have a drink and try to get back to sleep – not happening, so I check the Blackberry’s (yes 2 I’m afraid oops) for e-mails and get through them; still can’t sleep though so I decide I might as well put the radio on and face the day earlier than planned. Wouldn’t all of this material make an amazing documentary? Whereas Casey Afleck’s is-it-or-isn...
Another Chapter My Video Marketing Adventure
I have recently begun to develop a series of
SEO training videos and I am finding the challenges are extremely rewarding. As
I have previously mentioned as I have been providing a running narrative of my
experiences.
I have been able to successfully use videos
to crush my competition. There are several keyword phrases were I hold every
position on the first page. Yes, that’s 10 out of 10! In two short
months I have placed videos ...

The Girl Who Played With Fire, the highly anticipated second instalment of the Millennium Trilogy, is coming to Cornwall in September. Noomi Rapace reprises her role as Lisbeth Salander, described by esteemed critic Roger Ebert as “compelling as any movie character in recent memory.”
When a researcher and Millennium journalist on the cusp of exposing Sweden’s sex trade are murdered, Lisbeth’s prints turn up on the murder weapon, making her the prime suspect. With a history o...
Ernest Borgnine, who is exuberantly entering his seventh decade of creating memorable characters and award-winning performances, will receive Screen Actors Guild (SAG)’s most prestigious accolade-—the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment. Borgnine, who has performed in more than 200 motion pictures, five television series and dozens of television films and guest appearances, will be presented the Award, given annually to an actor w...
Do we give a sh*t about Vegas and its film festival? If you're Hollywood, you kind of look at it like an artifact on the artifact. A facsimile hatched together for the Sunset Boulevard
devotee/autograph-seeking/souvenir-collecting fan-based crowd.
Which is to say that in 110 F degree heat, stuck in Hooter's with a bunch of paunchy middle aged doofs looking for p-u-s-s-y, there are many other things one of the film persuasion might consider doing... laundry, for exampl...

The most dramatic race since BEN HUR! Sweet Granny is walking to her favorite spot at a lake when she gets overtaken by Mrs Messala. The old ladies maneuver their wheeled walking-aides in a breathtaking, funny but violent snail-pace race.
Black humour + whacky comedy underlined by subtle social commentary, as if Monty Pythons had teamed up with Mike Leigh.
The film has already been shown at festivals all over the world, and has won the Gold Remi Award of the WorldFest Houston (category: Best Original Comedy Short), and the Audience Award of the Kino Knock Out Festival in Altkirch, France.
Last July, the nonprofit group Human Rights Watch put out a hefty report drawn from its prior two decades of watching dogs in some 20 countries. Called Selling Justice Short, the dossier showed why accountability was a good thing for peace and, if nothing else, could help heal victims by acknowledging their anguish.
I didn't read it – nor likely did you – but the Human Rights Watch Film Festival supplies some visual Cliff's Notes. This year it gives witness to human rights violations ...

Features and Shorts
[And in case you're wondering, short films are 30 minutes or less. Features run at least 75 minutes. If you're in the middle...sorry. Maybe next year, we'll add a "long shorts" section to the festival!]
All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of hardened horror freaks - we'll get back to you, by December 23, 2010 at the latest, and let you know whether you've been accepted. If you want, we can also review the film in detail on TrashCity.org; that is entirely optional, but if you're looking to get buzz started, that would be a good way, since the site gets 1,000+ visitors per day. Let us know with your entry if you'd rather we didn't do that though, and we'll happily keep quiet.
What's in it for me, you say? Well, the winner of both the Best Short and Best Feature will receive a domestic and International distribution deal from Brain Damage Films and Maxim Media International. Other film distribution companies and studios are invited to attend and may be interested in your film. We are working with sponsors to offer a cash prize and we will post prizes when they are available.
There is no better way to get your film seen by horror fans. Other entries may also be offered contracts, if they're deemed worthy, but the winners get that as a guarantee. There'll also be an 'Audience Choice' award for the best single film, be it short or feature. We haven't quite worked out what the prize is for that yet though!
Any questions, please feel free to email us, at director@phxfearfilmfestival.com or you can call 602-399-9500, and we'll happily answer your queries.
Tonight, fittingly, the screenings are at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art auditorium. It is a great space with a striking view overlooking downtown Boston and the night-lit waterfront. It is a great space to see two films about two fields not always thought of as art, but that are certainly contemporary.
The first, For the Love of Movies, chronicles the craft of film critique. Breaking that history out into distinct eras and styles and sometimes dominant personalities, direct...
