Interview with Actress Jessica Sherr for 'Bette Davis Aint For Sissies', 2025
Jessica Sherr is a dynamic actress, writer, and producer based in New York City. Known for her vibrant comedic energy and captivating presence, she lights up both stage and screen with performances that leave audiences entertained and wanting more. Originally from San Diego, Jessica’s passion for storytelling led her to pursue a career in entertainment, earning standout roles on television in Claws (TNT), Cloak & Dagger(Freeform), Blue Bloods (CBS), ANNIE(Columbia Pictures) and Flight of the Conchords (HBO) showcasing her range across drama and comedy. As a writer and performer, Jessica is best known for her acclaimed one-woman show Bette Davis Ain’t For Sissies, directed by Drama Desk Award-winner Karen Carpenter. The show made its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, followed by a London run at St. James Theatre, two extended engagements in Chicago, and over 450 performances across 30 states and three countries. In recognition of her powerful portrayal, the Bette Davis Estate gifted her a pair of Davis' own scarf, gloves, and earrings—items she now wears on stage. Jessica is also the co-creator and star of the award-winning web series Scratch This, which won Best Web Series at the Garden State Film Festival and Best Ensemble Cast at Bilbao Seriesland and Miami Web Fest. Her dark comedy short Wicked Image has earned accolades at numerous festivals, including Best Comedy at Broad Humor and Reedy Reels, and Best Ensemble Cast at Borrego Springs Film Festival. Currently, Jessica is in production on Wyrd & Wicked, a psychological horror series exploring the darker side of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. The series is a haunting, genre-bending tale of myth, grief, and transformation. A versatile performer trained in both comedy and drama, Jessica studied improv at UCB and The PIT, and trained with industry luminaries including Glenn Morshower and Oscar winner Mercedes Ruehl.
