From 1955, Diller, a native of Lima, Ohio has been in the public consciousness since being a guest contestant on Groucho Marx’s You Bet Your Life and played a key role in the advancement of female comedians. She has since expanded her repertoire to include music, painting and writing, expressing a dedication to the importance of art in her life. Her timin g, self-depreciating comedy writing and iconic cigarette holder opened the doors for some of the world’s leading female comedians and hundreds of others owe their success to her fearless presence that has touched lives all over the world. On behalf of the Northwest Ohio Film Foundation, The Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival and the City of Lima, it is with the greatest pleasure that we present PHYLLIS DILLER WITH the First NWOFF Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication and achievement in arts, and for providing an example of the excellence to which the City of Lima and the entire world aspire.
