The Hero (from Kosovo) in Montreal FFM 2014

HÉROS
Synopsis
The main character is a man of principles and virtues who becomes prey to a human drama imposed by social, political and economic circumstances. The war is over. The soldier named Shkëmb returns home. Many come to thank him and testify for his courage to save the local population during the war. But over time his sacrifice is forgotten and things start to change. He continues to live in a tent, a charity by humanitarian organizations, under difficult living conditions. He becomes disillusioned with the way a small group of political and business careerists have used his ideals and victory to gain power, money and control over the population. The Hero’s love, honesty and sincerity are crushed before economic difficulties that are imposed to him by family and general social relationships. Although he tries to survive the reality created after the war, he remains a loner with his ideals and dreams. He loses his job and is not able to find another one, he loses his family as a result of his principles to live an honest life trying to defend the human identity and moral. The main character of the movie “Heroi” appears to be only one of the idealists of a horrible war, whom the after war turns into a character whose features he would have never expected to find in himself. A frustrated warrior. A looser in peacetime. Who carries an incurable syndrome, that of the warrior, whose pain continues in the Balkans.
He faces the reality in vain, hoping to create better days.

Synopsis
