RIFF 2019 releases first list of films to be screened

Founder of Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF), (Jaipur, January 19-23), Somendra Harsh, said today that in this five-day event, film screenings, seminars, workshops, knowledge series and a film market will be organised. The festival will screen feature films, short films, documentary films and animation films. On the last day of the festival, RIFF Award Night 2019 will be held on, in which the best film artistes will be honored.

The first list of films to be screened has been released, in which the following films feature: director Kanwal Sethi's film Once Again, starring  Neeraj Kabi and Shefali Shah, Pakistan's film Load Wedding, directed by Nabeel Quraishi and produced by Fiza Ali, director Sanjay Guru's short film, I am Fine, starring Ananth Mahadevan, India's first POV film Rakkhosh, directed by Abhijit Kokate, starring  Sanjay Mishra and Tannishtha Chatterjee,

director Shreyas Gupta's film Ekkatara, starring Yashpal Sharma, producer Abhishek Saha's film UronChondi, Sarra Abidi's film from the UAE, set in Tunisia, Benzine, Malayalam film Ragasoothram, directed by Sreejit Nampoothiry, director Gurmeet Brar's Urdu film Hijrat, director G Murthy's Kannada film Bimba, director Neeraj Pancholi's short English film Cosmic Lights, Persian film The Castle, directed by Saba Ghasemi, director Suraj Tiwari's film I am Zero, Manipuri film, Daughters of the Polo God, directed by Rupa Barua, director Kanakraj Balasubramaniam's Kannada film Burma Express, Lucia Barata directed Brazilian film The Brazilian, director Mehak Chahat's student film, Dodo, America's Academy Award winner director Richard Lyford's film, As the Earth Turns, director Ramana's film Living Idol and a Drishyam Films production, directed by Ajit Pal Singh, Rammat Gammat.  

Many Bollywood personalities, like Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Mishra, Yashpal Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Neeraj Kabi, Shefali Shah, Raghuvir Yadav, Ashish Sharma, Nandita Puri and Ishaan Puri are expected to attend RIFF 2019.

Siraj Syed is a film-critic since 1970 and a Former President of the Freelance Film Journalists' Combine of India.

He is the India Correspondent of FilmFestivals.com and a member of FIPRESCI, the international Federation of Film Critics, Munich, Germany

Siraj Syed has contributed over 1,015 articles on cinema, international film festivals, conventions, exhibitions, etc., most recently, at IFFI (Goa), MIFF (Mumbai), MFF/MAMI (Mumbai) and CommunicAsia (Singapore). He often edits film festival daily bulletins.

He is also an actor and a dubbing artiste. Further, he has been teaching media, acting and dubbing at over 30 institutes in India and Singapore, since 1984.
