IFFI 50, II: Make a short film in 72 hours, win Rs. 1,00,000

International Film Festival of India (IFFI) celebrates its Golden Jubilee edition, from 20th to 28th November 2019, in Goa’s state capital, Panaji. This year, it be having a short film-making competition called “Mini Movie Mania Short Film Competition”. The topic for the film will be given during IFFI, and the movie-makers have to submit their films within 72 hours, after the topic is announced. There will be two sections in this competition, i.e. Goa Section and National Section. 

The objective of this competition is to recognise excellence in short film-making, provide opportunities to connect the short film-making community through networking and collaborative projects, provide an opportunity to experience the best work of National and Local film-making talent, to build an audience for the work of short film-makers, to develop the skill of film-making, using minimal resources, and locating young and fresh talent.

Eligibility Conditions:

Goa Section Short Film Competition – The film could be a silent film or be in any Indian language or an English language film, being produced by Goan producers/Production Houses, Goan Individuals, Social & Educational Institutions and Students studying in educational institutions in Goa, and Directed by a Goan Director only. The technicians and artistes of the film also should be Goan residents. (Government ID / Address proof required.)

National Section Short Film Competition – The film could be a silent film or be in any Indian language or an English language film, being produced by Producers, Production Houses from India, Individuals, Social & Educational Institutions and Students, studying in educational institutions only. (ID proof, stating the Nationality, to be submitted by the participant.)

The last date for registration is 15th Nov 2019, which is free of cost, and film submission fee is Rs 1000/-, which can be paid via Demand Draft, in the name of Entertainment Society of Goa, or a transfer via NEFT.

Siraj Syed is a film-critic since 1970 and a Former President of the Freelance Film Journalists' Combine of India.

He is the India Correspondent of FilmFestivals.com and a member of FIPRESCI, the international Federation of Film Critics, Munich, Germany

Siraj Syed has contributed over 1,015 articles on cinema, international film festivals, conventions, exhibitions, etc., most recently, at IFFI (Goa), MIFF (Mumbai), MFF/MAMI (Mumbai) and CommunicAsia (Singapore). He often edits film festival daily bulletins.

He is also an actor and a dubbing artiste. Further, he has been teaching media, acting and dubbing at over 30 institutes in India and Singapore, since 1984.
