Cinestaan’s second storytellers script contest accepting entries till 22 January 2019

Cinestaan’s second storytellers script contest accepting entries till 22 January 2019

Rs. 25,00,000 prize to the winner and another Rs. 2,50,000 to be shared among four Runners Up—a total of Rs. 50,00,000 (US$714,000, approx..) are on offer in Cinestaan’s second storytellers script contest. The application fee is a mere Rs. 1,500.

In addition to the prize money for the winners, there is an initiative of Cinestaan Digital Pvt. Ltd. (CDPL): once you are part of the Cinestaan Script Bank and if your story is really good, then, like any other production house, Cinestaan Film Company (CFC) too can access and discuss your script with you. CDPL and CFC are two separate entities.

In addition, Cinestaan maintains a Script Bank, an innovative initiative by CDPL. CDPL will put your script synopsis in front of decision makers like studios/production houses/producers who have subscribed to this service. If your synopsis is good enough, you will get a chance for your script to directly reach the eyes of decision makers in the industry. The five winners shall get a chance to pitch directly to Studios/Production Houses.

The Jury for the contest comprises Aamir Khan (actor, producer, writer), Anjum Rajabali (writer, lecturer; Chairperson), Juhi Chaturvedi (writer) and Rajkumar Hirani (director, writer, producer).

Says Rohit Khattar, Chairman of Cinestaan Digital, “I would like to thank all the Writers who participated in Cinestaan India’s Storytellers Contest. Our aim was to nurture writing talent in our country and we were astounded by the response of almost 4000 applicants. While the cash prizes may have been partial incentive, I have no doubt that it was the goodwill and credibility of our amazing Jury that further encouraged the participants. I would really like to thank Aamir, Anjum, Juhi and Raju for their unwavering support and commitment of time towards this initiative. Thanks to Anjum, especially, for the extra hours and guidance given as the Chairman of the Jury and to my incredible team, who are still wading through the great screenplays. Delighted to take this forward next year too.”

Cinestaan.com is an attempt to record and recount the rich past and vibrant present of Indian cinema. Whether movies, songs, personalities or plain old gossip, Cinestaan.com’s, effort is to bring rich and varied content, both from the past and from the present, to its readers, along with rare visual footage. They are also working to put together the most comprehensive database on Indian cinema, ever, so that this modern art form, which is today a multi-million-dollar industry, employing tens of thousands of artistes, never suffers from lack of documentation.

All five winners of the first edition (from left to right): Christo Tomy, Sagar Pandya, Rajdweep, Biplab Goswami and Satyen Bordoloi.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Cinestaan has a registered office in New Delhi. You can reach them through their website, www.cinestaan.com.
