Gotham Week 2025 to Kick off Sep 29th; Project Market Submissions Open in April

We are thrilled to announce that Gotham Week 2025 will make its return to Brooklyn on September 29th through October 3rd with the renowned Gotham Week Project Market and Expo!

The Gotham Week Project Market—the nation’s oldest and largest curated marketplace for film and TV creators—will open for submissions in early April. In an effort to nurture both emerging and established talent, the Project Market opens doors for groundbreaking film and media creators to build career-spanning relationships with distributors, financiers, production companies, festival programmers, sales and talent agents, and collaborators.

The fourth annual Gotham Week Expo—an initiative of the Gotham’s Expanding Communities program—will showcase thought leadership on the advancement of the film and media industries while amplifying Gotham’s partner organizations, alumni, and communities.

Programming will also include screenings of new films with corresponding events and opportunities for networking.

More details will be announced soon, so stay tuned!

Have a story to tell or an idea for a creative project and don’t know what to do next? Or can’t decide if it should be a short, a feature, a series, a podcast, a book, an essay, or a live performance? Or just want to make something (anything!) but don’t know where to begin?

Get unstuck from project purgatory in this Advanced Essentials workshop with filmmaker and comedian Meghan Ross (Sundance fellow, Webby nominee)! Using past project examples, we'll talk through how to decide on the best storytelling medium, how to put together a realistic plan to execute on your creative vision, and what resources you’ll need to get it done – be it cash or community (spoiler: it’s usually a bit of both).

Key Takeaways:

  • Creative matchmaking: figuring out the best medium/platform to tell your story
  • Figuring what you have (including your strengths) and what you need help with
  • Making an actionable and realistic plan and schedule for your first (or fiftieth) project
  • How to get the resources to make the damn thing (crowdfunding, in-kind support, grant applications, indie investors, etc.)
  • Building your dream team (crew, cast, future BFF’s!)
  • What comes afterwards: distribution strategy and career sustainability tips
