The San Sebastián Festival will dedicate one of the Donostia Awards at its 73rd edition to recognising the talent of Jennifer Lawrence, one of the most influential actresses of our time.

The Academy-Award winning actress will receive the honorary accolade at a gala to take place on Friday 26th September in the Kursaal Auditorium, followed by a screening of her latest film, Die My Love, in which she delivers a career-defining performance. The film, which Lawrence also produced, is directed by Lynne Ramsay, and had its world premiere at the Festival de Cannes.

Jennifer Lawrence is an Academy Award–winning actress, producer, and activist. She has starred in acclaimed films such as Silver Linings Playbook, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2012, American HustleDon’t Look UpJoy, and The Hunger Games trilogy. In 2018, Lawrence expanded her influence behind the camera by co-founding Excellent Cadaver, a production company dedicated to telling bold, thought-provoking stories. Together with her producing partner, Justine Ciarrocchi, Lawrence has cultivated a dynamic slate of critically lauded projects, including CausewayNo Hard Feelings, and the powerful documentaries Zurawski v. Texas and Bread & Roses—the latter honored with a prestigious Peabody Award. Excellent Cadaver’s latest project, with Lawrence both starring in and serving as a producer with Lynne Ramsay directing, is a gripping adaptation of Die My Love, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and is slated for release November 7.

Die My Love will premiere at the Donostia Award Screening. The film also stars Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek.

The debut film from Lynne Ramsay (Glasgow, 1969), Ratcatcher (1999) was presented in Un Certain Regard at Cannes and was later programmed in Perlak. Following its screening at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes, Morvern Callar (2002) won the FIPRESCI Prize in San Sebastián. She returned to Cannes with We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) and with You Were Never Really Here (2017), earning her the Best Screenplay Award, while the Best Actor Award went to Joaquin Phoenix.

Set in rural America, Die My Love is a portrait of a woman engulfed by love and madness. Grace, a writer and young mother, is slowly slipping into madness. Locked away in an old house in and around Montana, we see her acting increasingly agitated and erratic, leaving her companion, Jackson, increasingly worried and helpless.
