Coyote and the Road Runner kickedHow does it feel to live in a virtual world? Festival International Du Film D’Animation 2011 approves once again, glamour and a great class. The Opening Ceremony 6 June, included exclusive screenings of studio short films by the leading animation teams of Pixar and Disney. The Festival “Giant Screen” in front of the main building showed a variety of Between Frames presentations providing behind the scenes and the process of making features. Festival included many exhibitions covered a variety of topics ranging from animation to production, computer graphics as well as the presentation of 18 special awards, such as the Crystal for short films and the Crystal for feature films. Films were shown on three main locations of Annecy. Festival covers the great contrast and variety for interests and creative taste of all ages. The selection of films included 10 feature films mainly Asian anime aimed for very young people, 42 short films aimed for mature audience, 59 graduation films and 71 TV and commissioned films and TV series’ and specials, educational and advertising films and music videos for a people who work in industry. In addition, about 35 short films and 6 feature films were out of competition on the MIFA. MIFA Section is the animation industry that took place 8-10 June and covered a selection of presentation stands and chill-out area in order to intermediate between professionals and to launch new projects of animation for TV, movie or internet production.
THE LOONEY TUNES and MEL BLANCRETURN TO THE SILVER SCREEN Warner Bros. Animation Announces Three New 3D Theatrical Cartoon Shorts opened the festival with legendary three new 3D/CG shorts from Warner Bros. Animation Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner kicked out the audience in 3D, visible only with a special glasses. Three original Looney Tunes 3D theatrical cartoon shorts produced by Warner Bros, animated and directed by Matthew O’Callaghan (Coyote Falls) were shown in a Grande Salle for a wider audience. Two of the new shorts — Daffy’s Rhapsody and I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat feature voice of the late great Mel Blanc. The legendary actor/comedian known as The Man of a Thousand Voices brought to life some of the most well known characters in animation history during a celebrated career of six decades. Blanc appeared in shorts, created using state-of-the-art CG animation and rendered in stereoscopic 3D in original songs he recorded in character in the 1950s.
