Quendrith JohnsonQuendrith Johnson is filmfestivals.com Los Angeles Correspondent covering everything happening in film in Hollywood... Well, the most interesting things, anyway. ![]() ENTWINED is a Greek horror movie that somehow resonates right nowby Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent Something about this Pandemic is perfect for a Greek horror movie. Opening in theaters before a VOD North American release on Sept. 8 from Dark Star Pictures, ENTWINED is that movie. Why? Because, for one thing, Pandemic is a Greek word, from ‘pan’ meaning “all” and ‘demos’ meaning “people.” More to the point, thousands of years ago, Greek tragedies paved the way for everybody else in Western culture. ENTWINED from director, also co-writer, Minos Nikolakakis is creepy in all the right remote and isolated, emotionally and socially distanced ways.
The official synopsis is that “Panos (Prometheus Aleifer), a city doctor, relocates his practice to a remote village and quickly falls for Danae (Anastasia Rafaella Konidi), who lives in isolation with a mysterious skin condition." "Determined to find Danae a cure, Panos learns of her dark secret and that all is not what it seems.” Creepy and a love story, how Greek tragedy is that? Watch…
ENTWINED was an Official Selection, Toronto International Film Festival, and globally on the circuit. Theatre openings date back to Aug. 28. Including: Los Angeles (Laemmle), New York (Alamo On Demand), Philadelphia (Philadelphia Film Society) and major venues in big cities. But the VOD for the US and Canada is Sept. 8, on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Xbox, Vudu, Direct TV, Dish Network, and basically all major cable providers.
