OFF PLUS CAMERAOFF PLUS CAMERA is a major event devoted to Polish and international independent cinema organized by The Society for Independent and Other Arts OFF CAMERA and Krakow Festival Office since 2008. . Our key objective is to give support to the filmmakers at the beginning of their careers. The most important element of the festival is the international competition, in which 12 independent directors from all over the world compete for the Krakow Film Award of $100,000. The winner is selected by an international jury and the award is given by the President of Krakow. Each year, approximately 100 films are presented during more than 200 screenings. Our Festival aspires to show – besides the newest productions – the classics of underground cinema through retrospective and tribute sections.  Roof-olution – exceptional open-air screenings at the OFF Plus Camera festival!This year's OFF PLUS CAMERA not only consists of theatre screenings but also in the open-air! The audience will be able to experience the unforgettable film screenings on the rooftops of Kraków buildings.
For five days, the festival audience will be able to watch films on the rooftops of buildings at Szczepańska, Szeroka and Senacka streets. The programme includes the controversial Casey Affleck's and Joaquin Phoenix's “I'm Still Here” (Discoveries section). It is a story of Phoenix, spread along 12 months, who decided to take up a fake hip-hop career. The project unmasks the Hollywood artistic world and proves how easy it is to manipulate the spectators.
Another film is “The Dry Land” (section: Sundance Institute Series) starring Oscar winning Melissa Leo. The film will be personally introduced by the director Ryan Piers Williams and the lead actress and the film producer – America Ferrera (also his wife).
You will not miss the classics on the rooftops either. We will present the gems of the indie cinema: David Lynch's “Wild at Heart”, Danny Boyle's “Shallow Grave” as well as Jonathan Glazer's “Sexy Beast” with the Oscar nominated Ben Kingsley.
The inspiration for Roof-olution was the New York festival Rooftop. In July 1997 Mark Elijah Rosenberg took a projector up on the top of his roof and invited anyone he met to the film screening. The idea turned out to be a true hit, and the festival gains more and more popularity each year.
