London Archive Film Festival

The 2012 London Archive Film Festival is the first of an annual celebration of the use of archival footage in the creative media. In association with the archive footage industry's annual awards organised by Focal International, the London Archive Film Festival presents a selection of productions that showcase the very best in archive-led productions from TV commercials to the extraordinarily successful cinema release, 'Senna'.

Due to screen on Friday, 4 May is 'Cinema Komunisto' (Mila Turajlic, 2010) a documentary exploring the history of Yugoslav cinema which won Best Use of Footage in an Arts Production at the archive footage industry's Focal Awards in 2011.  Using rare footage from dozens of forgotten Yugoslav films, as well as never-seen-before archive from film sets and Tito's private screenings, the documentary recreates the narrative of a country, the stories told on screen and the ones hidden behind it.   Mila Turjilic makes a personal appearance for a Q and A after the screening.
