Ioan Gruffudd, heroe of The Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer, to be honoured at Ischia

"Mister Fantastic" lands at the Ischia Global Festival. Ioan Gruffudd, heroe of The Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer, the eagerly awaited film based on the famous comic strip by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby that comes out today, June 15 in theaters all over the world, will receive the Ischia Fashion Award by Fiuggi, together with Italian actress
Alessandra Martines. Both will be guests of the fifth edition of the Global Fest from July 9th to 15th at the Regina Isabella hotel in the town of Lacco Amno.

Thirty-three years old with a model’s physique, Ioan Gruffudd (who has just finished shooting Dennis Leecon’s Fireflies in the Garden with Julia Roberts) began his career with the series People of the Valley before making his big screen debut in 1997 in Wild by John Grey and taking part in the colossal Titanic. He was the romantic Kevin Shepard in 101 Dalmations, the lieutenant in Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down, and he wore Sir Lancelot’s armor in King Arthur. For the second time, the Welsh actor plays the role of Mr. Fantastic, the likeable superhero with the ability to stretch all his limbs an incredible distance. In the second chapter of the popular saga, he has to deal with a newcomer, the Silver Surfer, one of Marvel comics’ readers’ best-loved characters of all time.

The female Fashion Award was assigned by the International Art Academy of Ischia to the Roman actress Alessandra Martines, who will accept this new honor after recently winning the “Diamonds at the Movies” award at Cannes in recognition of her elegance and class as an actress and a woman. From Fantaghirò, the children’s series of the ‘90s to the encounter with French director Claude Lelouch who later became her husband, Martines has continued to mature. At this stage in her career she has been adopted by French cinema and like, Monica Bellucci, is considered an Italian icon abroad. In Italy she has filmed many quality series’ (Edda, Don Bosco) and has recently made her writing debut with Conte pour Stella, a collection of fairy tales dedicated to her daughter. Her next film, with Chiara Mastroianni, L’Heure Zéro (Zero Hour), will be released in France in October.

The Ischia Global Fest is organized by the International Art Academy of Ischia and the Tourist Board of Ischia and Procida, together with the Regional Ministry fro Tourism of the Campania Region in collaboration with Kimbo coffee, Fiuggi mineral water, and the Venice Casino, as well as the participation of Cinecittà Holding, and the Chamber of Commerce of Naples and Medmar.
