Catherine Corcoran receives 'Best Actress' nomination at 'Hexploitation Film Festival.'

Catherine Corcoran

Following the Los Angeles premiere of 'Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volume II,'  Catherine Corcoran receives 'Best Actress' nomination at 'The Hexploitation Film Festival'  for her performance in said film.

The Hexploitation Film Festival  (previously ' Fright Night Theatre') is the only competitive Canadian festival dedicated to horror, exploitation, and cult genre cinema in the greater Hamilton, ON, area.

Previous official selections and award winners include high-profile and ground-breaking films such as: THE BABADOOK (dir. Jennifer Kent), THE LURE (dir. Agnieszka Smoczynska) and RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH - VOL. 1 (dir. Lloyd Kaufman), in which Catherine also stars.

Catherine received numerous accolades for her performance in 'Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volume I'  including positive reviews from 'Interview Magazine,' 'TIME Magazine,' and 'The New York Times,' who called her performance "joyous [..] unflagging, and unfazed."
Volume II

Similarly, 'Volume II' made its world premiere at this year's The Cannes Film Festival, and followed with a debut at New York's
Museum of the Moving Image.

In addition, as part of it's 'SCM Colloquium Series' for students, Montclair State University will also be screening Damien Leone's, 'Terrifier,' in which Catherine Corcoran stars. Presented by Epic Pictures in conjunction with Dread Central Presents, Catherine will join the audience for a post screening discussion on "The Symbiotic Relationship Between Practical FX and Horror" and Q&A, moderated by Ken W. The March 23rd, screening of 'Terrifier' coincides with the DVD release of what genre enthusiasts are calling "one of the most highly anticipated films on the Dread Central roster". The film previously premiered at The Film Society of Lincoln Center with a sold-out opening of their  'Scary Movie Film Festival'; and made horror movie history, featuring the first murder sequence of it's kind.

Critics have praised the film, and Catherine's performance in said scene, stating that the film "dares to go where few films will even consider," and that the films antagonist (David Howard Thornton of 'Gotham'"makes Pennywise look like Krusty." In addition, 'Terrifier' has received accolades from Scream Horror Magazine, Modern Horrors Magazine, and Bloody Disgusting.
