MONDAY - from Robert Rodriguez’s Rebel Without a Crew, to Close Oscar-Qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival

The Academy Awards® Qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival is proud to announce they will be closing their 10-day event with MONDAY, directed by Hollyshorts veteran Alejandro Montoya Marin. MONDAY was shot during Robert Rodriguez’s series Rebel Without a Crew which gave Montoya Marin the opportunity make a feature for only $7,000; the same opportunity that launched and cemented Rodriguez’s career in 1992. Rodriguez will be delivering a special video message to start off the night’s festivities.

MONDAY follows pothead slacker Jim (Jamie Jung) who starts his Monday off by losing both his job and his girlfriend (Bonnie Gayle). He soon finds himself wrapped up in a turf war with rival drug cartels and has to outrun a pair of assassins (Anna Schatte, Sofia Embid). With his best friend, Paul (Kenneth McGlothin), Jim attempts to get his life back on track and survive the worst Monday possible. MONDAY is a music driven film that embodies the 80's action-comedy spirit and attempts to put a new spin on the genre.

This is the LA Premiere for MONDAY and will be followed by the celebrated Hollyshorts Awards Gala & Afterparty at the Harmony Gold Theater in Hollywood.

MONDAY will screen on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 6:30pm at the Harmony Gold Theater located at 7655 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046.
