Australia's leading film festival bridges the gap with new international industry networking event
The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), announced yesterday the establishment of Australia’s first international film forum within its festival environment. 37 South: Bridging the Gap (26th — 28th July) will be a major film networking event in Australia. Serious in intent but informal in tone this event is designed to bring together Australian feature film producers with a range of potential partners.
These two programmes consolidate the Industry arm of the Melbourne International Film Festival, which formally began in 2004 with the establishment of Accelerator. This annual four day event brings together some of the region’s brightest new filmmaking talent in a focused workshop environment. Previous Accelerator participants include Taika Waititi director of Oscar® nominated and MIFF opening night short Two Cars One Night who has now gone onto directing his first feature Eagle vs Shark. 37 South: Bridging the Gap builds on the success of Accellerator and is a major new initiative for both Australian and international industry professionals. It will provide an opportunity within a festival environment for potential partners to discuss and develop market ready projects.
The 2007 Melbourne International Film Festival runs from July 25th — August 12th, full programme details will be announced on Wednesday June 20th. The inaugural 37 South: Bridging The Gap will run July 26th — July 28th.
