"Variety" to present "10 ACTORS TO WATCH" at next Hollywood Awards on October 22

"Variety," the authoritative entertainment industry publication, will present its annual "10 Actors to Watch" lineup of exciting new talents for the first time onstage at the Hollywood Awards(r).

The ten actors, selected by a team of Variety's critics, editors and reporters, will be recognized at the prestigious Hollywood Awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on October 22.

"We are very proud and honored that 'Variety' selected the Hollywood Film  Festival(r) and Hollywood Awards(r) to present their '10 Actors to Watch.' Together, we will be able to recognize acting talents that are on their road to discovery and stardom. Since our festival and awards inception in 1997, our mandate has been to be able to bridge the gap between Hollywood and emerging talent, as well as recognize excellence in the art of filmmaking," Festival founder Carlos de Abreu said.

The "10 Actors to Watch" event is part of Variety's well-known "10 to Watch"  program, spotlighting emerging talents in the fields of acting,  directing, screenwriting and cinematography, amongst others. The honorees'  accomplishments and future projects will be covered in Variety's Hollywood Awards feature section and will be included in a special webcast series focusing on the "10 Actors to Watch" at Variety.com.

The "10 to Watch" program is supervised by Steven Gaydos, Variety's  executive editor of features. Said Gaydos, "The Hollywood Awards have become a key night early in the awards season. Introducing our picks for emerging acting talents directly to the leaders of the film  industry is exciting not just for these next-generation performers,  but also for the industryites who will get the chance to personally meet and these dynamic young actors and actresses on Awards night."

The 2007 Annual Hollywood Film Festival(r) will take place from October 16 to 22. The Festival's screenings take place at ArcLight Theatres in Hollywood. Its  Hollywood Awards(r) Gala Ceremony will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Monday, October 22.

According to "The New York Times" the Hollywood Film Festival(r) and Hollywood Awards(r) are "the first mandatory stop in the awards season." In the last 4 years, a total of 54 Oscar(r) nominations and 12  Oscars(r) were given to films the festival showcased and to the nominees and honorees of the Hollywood Film Festival(r) and Hollywood Awards(r)."
