How has a year and a half of social distancing changed how independent films are distributed? On April 15th we’ll be hosting our second panel on the Future of Distribution, an opportunity for attendees to hear from distribution decision makers on how they’ve spent the past year successfully transitioning with the times and how you can utilize these new virtual opportunities as filmmakers. Join us for a conversation with content distributors at the forefront of this new wave of distribution – from online streamers, to virtual cinemas, and distribution companies, you’ll get an in depth look at what the future holds for film distribution.

Kate Gondwe
DEDZA - Founder
Kate Gondwe is a Malawian-American pursuing her undergraduate degree at Emerson College. She is the founder of the shorts distribution initiative, DEDZA FILMS, supported by Kino Lorber. Dedza Films is dedicated to acquiring short films from underrepresented communities and creating space for young storytellers. Kate has interned at Kino Lorber, Film Comment, recently NEON, and with filmmaker Jessica Beshir. Her start in film began as an emerging programmer apprentice at the Tallgrass Film Festival, a program sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and FilmWatch grant recipient.

Aijah Keith
IFC Films - Director of Acquistions
For the past five years, Keith has served as the Director of Acquisitions at IFC Films, aiding in securing over 360 titles for the company’s three film labels: IFC Films and IFC Midnight.

Chris Wells
MUBI - Director of US Distribution
C. Mason Wells is the Director of US Distribution for MUBI, a curated streaming service that also theatrically distributes ambitious films by both emerging and world renowned filmmakers. He was previously Director of Theatrical Sales for the longtime independent distributor Kino Lorber, Director of Programming for the relaunched Quad Cinema in New York, and has curated film series for the IFC Center, Anthology Film Archives, BAM, and the Criterion Channel. Additionally, he has produced the films ANNE AT 13,000 FT (Toronto & Berlin Film Festivals) and TWO PLAINS & A FANCY (BAMcinemaFest), written THIRST STREET (Tribeca & Venice Film Festivals), acted in films for Alex Ross Perry (THE COLOR WHEEL) and Dan Sallitt (FOURTEEN), and written about film for Film Comment.

Tyler Wilson
Film at Lincoln Center - Assistant Programmer
Tyler Wilson is an Assistant Programmer at Film at Lincoln Center. He has played a leading role in the organization’s shorts programming since 2017, serving on the selection committees for the New York Film Festival and New Directors/New Films. He is a co-programmer of FLC’s new releases and has co-organized numerous programs including International Melodrama (2017) and retrospectives of Jane Campion (2017), Jacques Tourneur (2018), Agne`s Varda (2019), and Wong Kar-wai (2020). His writing has appeared in Film Comment and The Brooklyn Rail.
