Joyce Field Pastor, Board Chair, The Boston Jewish Film Festival At its December meeting, the Board of Directors of The Boston Jewish Film Festival elected Joyce Field Pastor as its new Chair. A Weston resident, Pastor has been on the Festival Board since 2004. Most recently, she served as Vice Chair. She has co-chaired two trips of Festival supporters to the Haifa International Film Festival, as well as several fundraising events. Last year, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts named Joyce Field Pastor an "Unsung Hero" for her service to the Weston community. She was a founding member of the Weston Interfaith Action Group, in which she continues to be involved. Pastor is also a past president of the Board of Directors of Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland, and has been an active volunteer with Combined Jewish Philanthropies and the Boston Living Center. An avid filmgoer, Pastor says, "I love bringing new people to films offered by The Boston Jewish Film Festival. We offer amazing work by talented filmmakers from around the world, and the Festival is a wonderful platform for discussion of issues raised by these films." Aware of the challenges facing nonprofit cultural arts organizations, Pastor says, "I hope that my passion for the Festival will help encourage greater support, to ensure that this valuable cultural resource continues. Less than 20% of our funding comes from Festival ticket sales, so we are seeking additional funding sources, from individuals, corporations and others." Previous Board Chair Judith L. Ganz will remain on the Board in an ex-officio capacity. In addition, the Board elected the following new members: Beverly Bavly of Chestnut Hill, Adam Riemer of Newton, and Joanna Rothman of Waltham.
